The Journal of Informatic, Education, and Management (JIEM) is a journal managed by STMIK Indonesia Banda Aceh, first published in August 2019. JIEM is an online scientific journal that publishes research articles or scholarly works in the fields of computer science, education, and management. The Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication is a statement of ethical principles for all parties involved in the publication process, including managers, editors, peer reviewers, and authors. The core values of the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication prioritize neutrality, fairness, and honesty in publishing. After reading this Code of Ethics, please download the Ethics Statement and Copyright Agreement, sign it, and submit it as part of your initial article submission. The Copyright Agreement must be submitted before the article can be published. The Ethics Statement and Copyright Agreement can be sent via mail, email, or fax.
Responsibilities of the Journal Manager:
- Determining the journal's name, scope, periodicity, and accreditation if needed.
- Determining the editorial board membership.
- Defining the relationship between the publisher, editor, peer reviewers, and other parties in the contract.
- Respecting confidentiality related to contributing researchers, authors, editors, and peer reviewers.
- Applying norms and regulations regarding intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
- Reviewing journal policies and conveying them to authors, the editorial board, peer reviewers, and readers.
- Creating a code of conduct for editors and peer reviewers.
- Publishing the journal regularly.
- Ensuring a source of funding for the continued publication of the journal.
- Building a network of collaboration and marketing.
- Preparing licenses and other legal aspects.
Responsibilities of the Editor:
- Bridging the needs of readers and authors.
- Striving for continuous improvement in the quality of publications.
- Implementing a process to ensure the quality of published works.
- Advocating for objective freedom of expression.
- Preserving the academic integrity of authors' track records.
- Communicating corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary.
- Being responsible for the style and format of written works, while the content and statements are the authors' responsibility.
- Actively seeking input from authors, readers, peer reviewers, and editorial board members to enhance publication quality.
- Supporting journal assessments if findings arise.
- Encouraging initiatives to reduce research and publication misconduct by requesting authors to attach an approved Ethics Clearance form.
- Supporting initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics.
- Assessing the effects of publication policies on authors, peer reviewers, and improving them to enhance responsibility and minimize errors.
- Being open-minded to new opinions or contrary views that may contradict personal opinions.
- Not defending personal opinions or any other party's in a way that could result in non-objective decisions.
- Encouraging authors to make suitable improvements to their written works prior to publication.
Responsibilities of the Peer Reviewer:
- Receiving assignments from the editor to review written works and communicate the results to the editor for assessing a manuscript's suitability for publication.
- Refraining from reviewing works in which they are directly or indirectly involved.
- Maintaining the privacy of authors by not disseminating correction, suggestions, and recommendations without providing critique, advice, suggestions, input, and recommendations.
- Encouraging authors to make improvements to their written works.
- Reviewing revised manuscripts in accordance with predetermined standards.
- Conducting timely reviews of written works based on scientific principles (data collection method, author's legitimacy, conclusions, etc.).
Responsibilities of the Author:
- Ensuring the listed authors meet the criteria.
- Jointly responsible for the work and content of the article, including methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
- Stating the origin of resources (including funding) directly or indirectly.
- Explaining limitations in the research.
- Responding to comments made by peer reviewers in a professional and timely manner.
- Informing the editor if they wish to retract their written work.
- Making a statement that the submitted work is original, has not been published anywhere in any language, and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
